MINI TURBO DE TOMASO

In the roaring 80's, car production had reached a turning point: many manufacturers added cars with a sporty character and "bad" look to the small mass-produced sedans and utility cars.

Among these, one in particular, the competitor in its segment of the A112 Abarth and Mini Cooper, of the Fiat 1 and Y10 Turbo, the one that would later become an icon of those years: the De Tomaso Mini Turbo.

A car that brought significant innovations and firsts in the field of what would later become popular under the name of city cars. It was in fact the first small car in the world to mount the digital clock and electric windows on the Special version.

It also had the smallest supercharged engine in the world, an advanced Japanese jewel, which allowed it to go well beyond 170 km/h, and reach 100 km/h in about 10 seconds. Performance still respectable today for this segment.

The Innocenti Mini Turbo de Tomaso that we present for sale is a beautifully preserved example, with only 23.200 km traveled since new.

Having been jealously guarded in a private collection for about 15 years, it is truly preserved in superb condition, still with much of it in first paint, almost perfect original interior, bottoms and mechanics as if they left the factory.

Entering this car you are immediately catapulted into the 80s. Driving it you feel all the grit and desire for freedom of those years that only these cars can inspire.

The Mini Turbo de Tomaso on sale in our garage is equipped with the Daihatsu CB60 engine, the one that is more reliable and improved compared to the previous series

This also makes it a collector's and investment item: in fact, it is estimated that around 1,000 examples of this version were produced, very few surviving to this day, perhaps none in these stupendous original conditions.

A car full of grit, roaring, with a character that is certainly not easy, but one that will make the heart of any enthusiast beat faster. A piece not to be missed!
